Every February is LGBT+ History Month.
LGBT+ History Month is for everyone; whether you work in education, a museum, library or art gallery, a business, a service, are a member of a network/social group or an individual.
It is celebrated every February across the UK, and was founded in 2004 by Schools OUT co-chairs, Paul Patrick & Professor Emeritus Sue Sanders. It was first celebrated in February 2005.
Every year Schools OUT sets a different theme for LGBT+ History Month and provides free resources for education settings, businesses, services and organisations to help them celebrate and Usualise LGBT+ lives in their full diversity.
We have collated some resources for you to use at your organisation.
Please feel free to use and download anything that you feel is suitable and we hope that as many organisations as possible will take part.
LGBT+ Nottinghamshire
The LGBT+ Service Nottinghamshire was established by The Centre Place in 2016 as an expansion of the LGBT+ support being provided since 2010 through the Worksop Out on Wednesday (W.O.W) young people’s LGBT+ Service. They provide a range of specialist services for children and young people aged 11-25 who identify as LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and any other sexual orientation or gender identity), or may be questioning this. They also provide training and consultancy services for professionals across the private, public and voluntary sector.
LGBT+ Notts / Centre Place are encouraging organisations to create an LGBT+ History display at their venues and offices.
Below are some resources you can use to do this, and once you have completed your display, Centre Place would love to see them so they can share them on social media and beyond. Please email your display photos to georgiacrossland@centreplace.org.uk
