Seasonal Support - December 2023

The BCVS office will be closed for the seasonal break from 5pm Friday 22nd December - Monday 1st January, and will reopen on Tuesday 2nd January 2024.

If you need support during this time, the following information and services may help you:

Pharmacies:

The following pharmacies are open in Bassetlaw on the three Bank Holiday Days:

  • Christmas Day – 10am – 12 noon - Worksop Pharmacy, Bridge St, Worksop, S80 1DL
  • Boxing Day – 10am – 4pm - Boots Pharmacy, Bridge St, Worksop, S80 1JQ
  • New Years Day – 2pm – 4pm - Worksop Pharmacy, Bridge St, Worksop, S80 1DL

Other medical concerns:

  • 111 - If you think you need medical help right now, 111 online can tell you what to do. They can help identify symptoms or injury, dental help, mental health, a prescription, or medicines information, and help with any existing medical condition.
  • GP – Check your GP surgery for opening times. Most GP surgeries will only be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and the usual weekend closures.
  • 999 – Only call 999 if there is an immediate threat to life.

Peace of Mind Toolkit:

The Peace of Mind Toolkit, which was created by young people for young people to support them with their mental health, is available online 24/7.

As well as being a fantastic resource for young people, it contains a lot of support and advice that would be suitable for any age group on subjects such as anxiety, what we eat, self-harm and much more. Christmas Day Support Group & Sandwiches

In Sam’s Name will open to anyone feeling lonely on Christmas Day. They will be at The Edge, Kilton, Worksop from 11am – 2pm with sandwiches, mince pies, hot drinks, and friendship.

The Bassetlaw Cost of Living support booklet is available to view online 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The booklet contains information and guidance on the support available in Bassetlaw on the subjects of Mental health, Money and Finances, Energy, Clothing, Food and Shopping, Children and Families, Housing and Domestic Abuse.

Warm Spaces:

There are around 20 Warm Spaces registered in Bassetlaw that are open to anyone who needs them. These can be cafes, charity venues or community buildings where there is no expecting to spend money - you can just turn up and use them if you would benefit from the warmth.
