A Community Fridge is a space where surplus food is shared for free, bringing people together to eat, connect, learn new skills and reduce food waste.
The fridges are usually stocked by local businesses sharing food that wouldn’t otherwise be sold in time, fresh produce from local gardeners, and food gifted from households. Read more about the idea through the following web link Community Fridges | Hubbub Foundation
The Hubbub Foundation supports each fridge with health and safety advice, design assets and access to discounted fridges and freezers. In terms of funding, Hubbub has partnered with the Co-op to offer UK-wide funding for local groups to set up more Community Fridges. A funding round to apply to for a grant will open this Autumn, 2022.
