Through the development of Making Our Move, the shared vision for Uniting the Movement in Notts and Derbyshire, it is recognised that walking contributes to the vast majority of physical activity – on average, half our time spent being active is walking, whether that is on foot or in a wheelchair, and that walking can be available and accessible to everyone.
Ridewise and Active Notts are working together to look at how to maximise the potential of walking across Nottinghamshire, bringing together walking programme deliverers to identify and remove the barriers to walking.
We’d like to invite you to join this exciting new group to look at building links, sharing delivery best practise, industry news and exploring the collective opportunity to add value, which supports each of us in enabling our communities to walk more often.
We know that time is precious, and we really do welcome and invite your contribution and engagement. The kick off meeting for the Walk Notts Partnership is 13th March at 1pm until 2.30pm, held online.
During this meeting you will:
- Meet others from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire who are passionate about the role walking can play in communities.
- Input into a mapping exercise to help determine what is really needed to support walking locally.
- Identify new ways to share best practise.
The initial meeting is all about how we shape a Walking Partnership that helps you.
We’d really welcome your involvement in order to move forward with a focused and productive network that can support each other. We hope to hold these meetings once every 2 – 3 months and we’d like your input to ensure they’re designed to meet your needs.
We’ll also be reaching out to Walking Volunteers and Walk Leaders for similar meetings, to look at the practicalities of walking and how we can reduce the barriers and share successes. If you’d like to refer anyone to these meetings then let us know.
