PARKING ROUND THE SCHOOL (+pic)

Notts Police will be visiting the school after complaints about parking on Grovewood Road and Amcott Avenue. This includes parking too close to the corner between Grovewood Road and Fox Covert Lane, meaning that, when heading south, there is a blind bend. In addition, the Highway Code (Rule 243) says that drivers should not stop or park:

Recent complaints have also been about parking on the pavement on Amcott Avenue. It is an offence to obstruct the pavement and parking fully on the pavement means pedestrians, users of mobility scooters, people with visual difficulties, those pushing a pram or buggy, have to walk in the road. Those affected by inconsiderate parking have been asked to take photos (showing the registration plate) and send them to the Police.

ADVICE ON FLOODING

It may have been an exceptionally dry Winter, continuing into Spring, but the area can be prone to flooding, whether from river or surface water. This means being prepared. Bassetlaw District Council (BDC) has produced a leaflet outlining eight ways to be prepared, what to do during and after a flood, and who does what during a flood. The leaflet is accompanied by a personal flood plan. Copies are available at The Misterton Centre or on the BDC website (www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/flooding/flooding-in-bassetlaw/).

● Heavy rain in November meant the sewage system could not cope and effluent arose in residents’ gardens. This is a long-standing problem that Severn Trent is well aware of. The advice from BDC is always to report such incidents, and send photos if possible. It is only by everyone reporting incidents that the problem rises up the water authority’s ‘To do’ list.
