GRANTS FOR RURAL GROUPS AND BUSINESSES
Community groups and businesses in West Stockwith have the chance to bid for a share of over £200k of the latest Government funding, secured by Bassetlaw District Council. Grants of up to £20k from the Rural England Prosperity Funding (REPF) are available to support initiatives aiming to improve facilities for communities as well as supporting micro and small businesses in the district.
The deadline for applications for a share of the £214k funding is Wednesday 25 June at 12noon. This year’s REPF monies are split equally between community projects and rural businesses employing up to 49 people. To find out more, visit www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/business-advice/rural-england-prosperity-fund-repf/ or e-mail UKSPF@bassetlaw.gov.uk
CALL FOR DEVELOPMENT SITES
Bassetlaw District Council (BDC) is issuing a call for sites - land that owners wish to put forward for employment, retail, commercial, renewable energy, nature recovery as well as housing, including specialist forms of housing: affordable housing, housing for older people, and for gypsy and travellers. The identification of available land enables the Council to better understand how land could be used in the District in future. But it does not mean that planning permission would be approved for the land, or that the land would be included in any future Local Plan.
When Misterton was developing its Neighbourhood Plan, each parcel of land put forward was assessed against 10 criteria. BDC will carry out a similar assessment. The Council’s last call for sites was in 2019. Cabinet, which met on 3 June, approved the call for sites, which will run for 12 weeks until 3 September 2025. (For the full report, go to the Cabinet papers at bassetlaw.moderngov.co.uk).

Tickets are £8 (£4.50 for students, accompanied under 16s free). Book online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/islechoral or pay at the door.
Well-known songs from across the decades are on the programme and profits will go towards the upkeep of the village’s Georgian church. It is Grade II* listed, dates from 1722, and was built by William Huntington. The organ dates from 1906 by Jubb of Gainsborough; a specification of the organ can be found on the National Pipe Organ Register.
PARISH COUNCIL SURVEY
With the May issue of the Parish Council’s newsletter was a questionnaire: the Parish Council is seeking the opinions of residents on initiatives they would like to see in the parish. And there are just days to go before the closing date for suggestions. Paper copies should be returned to Cllr Helen Hartnell, Laburnum House, Main Street, West Stockwith by Monday 30 June 2025. The questionnaire is also on the West Stockwith Parish Council website (www.west-stockwith-parish-council-org.uk)for those who prefer to download a copy and return it electronically (to the e-mail address clerk@west-stockwith-parish-council.org.uk). The Parish Council values residents’ opinions and looks forward to their responses.
