25th April
Our Memory Group set in a comfortable environment is a support group that allows people experiencing the memory loss of a loved one, time to connect, socialise, and build new support networks.
Sessions are £6.00 per person and held weekly on Fridays from 11.00 am to 1.30 pm at Kilton Forest Golf Course.
There will be memory jogger activities on your tables, and for most sessions, a vocalist will entertain you all with some toe-tapping songs for you to sing and dance along to! We will also provide you with drinks and a light lunch.
To avoid disappointment, we ask you kindly book your places in advance, you can do this by telling us at a session or by telephone on 07957 743053, new members are more than welcome.
What is a Memory Group?
A memory loss-inclusive group welcomes people with any type of memory loss but also includes their partners, friends, companions, family, and carers.
The group is a good way to enjoy activities and is a break from the routine that you share. Importantly, it is a place where people can share experiences and meet people in similar situations whilst being entertained.
This group includes activities that can improve the well-being of people with memory loss in many ways:
· A vocalist provides music – music can have many benefits, reducing anxiety and helping to maintain speech and language skills. It has been shown that music can improve thinking, stimulate memories, and bring them to the fore.
· Word puzzles, jigsaws, and games all stimulate the brain and provide a social activity to connect with caregivers and create a positive emotional connection.
· This group is where you can enjoy sharing experiences and find companionship in a relaxed environment away from the stresses of everyday life.
We encourage, that caregivers interact with each other as we understand that this support is essential to mental well-being.
