Following a 12-month extension to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) by the UK Government, Bolsover District Council and Bolsover Partnership allocated funding to the Growth House to develop a programme of events (Big Strong Man) and community engagement aimed at addressing rising levels of depression and suicide rates across the district.
The Big Strong Man programme will include four separate shows (one in each of the district’s main service center’s) and supporting community engagement activities - including pre-show creative workshops, allowing local residents to input in to each show with the support of local community interest groups. These activities are intended to address rising rates of suicide within the District and whilst the shows are explicitly around male suicide they are inclusive and open to all genders.
