Website, AGM, Sustainability and the future!

November has been a busy month at BCVS.   We have launched our new website, VCSE directory including the health directory and volunteering opportunities online database.

There is much more content to be added, but it’s a great first step.   Please take a look and let us know what you think – if your organisation is missing from our directory or if you’d like any changes making please let us know.

November saw the launch of our Sustainability campaign aligned to COP26, and on 1st November we held our first SIDE (Sustainability, Inclusion, Diversity and Equality) working group meeting.  Connected to this, BCVS has joined the NAVCA Anti-Racism working group and we look forward to sharing our learning and resources with you.  As the latest step in November all BCVS staff have committed to do something new in support of sustainable development goals to develop new sustainability habits.

The first two in the BCVS Six of the Best events also took place in November.   The events hosted by Enable and NTU outlined the support and funding available to the VCSE sector and local employers/employees through a range of national and ESIF funded programmes.   We have recordings of the events available if of interest.

Several BCVS staff are enrolling as a result on fully funded(free) leadership and management, sustainability, marketing, change management and digital courses to name a few.   We know that supporting staff skills development is not only good for our people but also for our organisations, so if you’d like more info please do get in touch.

Last but not least, our AGM was held on 25th November and was a fantastic celebration of the work of all our staff, volunteers and trustees support of local communities and groups over what has been such a challenging year for all.

It was with sadness that we said goodbye to one of our valued Trustees Barrie Spencer who has supported BCVS for 9 years and stepped down at the AGM.   Barrie will continue to be a valued BCVS ally and alumni and we thank Barrie, and indeed all our trustees, for all invaluable support they have provided.

We look forward to welcoming new trustees on board in the new year and if you are interested in joining the board please get in touch.

Along with festive lights in December, we will be hanging our new infographics on the walls of BCVS which illustrate the scale of our work over the last year.   We hope you like them, we wish you seasons’ greetings whatever you celebrate, and we look forward to working with you over the coming year.
