Outreach and Engagement Officer – Full time 37 hours per week

£23,617 p.a.

Healthwatch Nottingham & Nottinghamshire (HWNN) is the independent patient and public champion that has a statutory responsibility to hold local health and social care services accountable to their communities for the services they provide.

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Outreach and Engagement Officer to assist us in reaching out and engaging with communities across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. To ensure that Healthwatch has the best possible evidence from people in order to influence the design and delivery of health and care services, you will need to be a skilful and engaging communicator with a passion for change.

The Outreach and Engagement Officer role is peripatetic, covering all of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire which includes travel across the City and County with responsibility for:

  • Proactively connecting with those who we find hardest to reach, including developing effective links and partnerships with local communities and groups, and taking steps to overcome barriers to participation
  • Planning and delivering best practice and innovative engagement using a range of approaches, tools and techniques
  • Working effectively with Healthwatch volunteers.

Developing and following best practice engagement methodology

We are especially interested in growing our considerable engagement with vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, including Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, frail elderly people, people living in areas of deprivation, and those facing domestic abuse. We would welcome interest from people who can demonstrate a connection to and understanding of the issues faced by these communities in accessing health and social care.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation as the health and social care system in which we are part of is in a period of change. As an Outreach and Engagement Officer, you will assist us in ensuring that local voices are at the heart of decisions around change.

We are looking for a candidate with the skills, experience and enthusiasm to help us to shape new ways to deliver our statutory function and make a difference to the health and care services received by local people. 

Currently HWNN staff are predominantly working from home and engagements are being conducted electronically via MS Teams and Zoom and by phone, a laptop and mobile phone will be provided for you.
