One-off/casual Event Volunteer

Opportunity Description: Department: Fundraising
Role Location: Anywhere across Nottinghamshire where events are being held
Role Support: You will be supported by a member of staff in the fundraising or volunteering teams
What is the purpose of this role?
To assist the charity with the smooth running of events.
What impact does this role have?
Enables the charity to deliver events safely that staff alone are unable to provide support for.
What activities might you be involved in?
• Supporting with bucket collection donations at a local theatre/event
• Supporting with handing out leaflets at a local event Age UK Notts is represented at
• Welcoming guests at Age UK Notts local events and potentially chatting with guests during the event
• Helping staff to host Age UK Notts local events– eg making and serving refreshments
• Helping staff to set up before and clear away after a local Age UK Notts event
• Supporting health and safety good practice through observations and providing assistance where required
When would you be needed to volunteer?
On an irregular basis, as and when required. Availability during evenings and weekends would be helpful. As much notice as possible will always be given.
What training will you be given?
You will be given a basic induction to the Charity, so you understand more about what we do, the services we offer and the people we support. You will have the opportunity if you so wish, to develop your knowledge about the charity to enable you to share information about the charity within your own networks of family and friends.

• An understanding of how community events are run and enjoyed by participants

Recruitment method:
Disabled Access details: This will be on an event-by-event basis.
Expenses details: Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses as defined in Age UK Notts’ volunteer handbook
Any Age/Gender restrictions: The volunteer role is open to those aged 18 and over.
Support for volunteers with additional needs: This will depend on the volunteer and what those needs are, and whether the service the volunteer is applying for can comfortably support a volunteer whilst maintaining the delivery of the service.
Induction Arrangments: You will be given a basic induction to the Charity, so you understand more about what we do, the services we offer and the people we support
