Opportunity Description: Counselling 1 -2 – 1 with Children and Young People (age 11 – 25) working towards your placement hours.
Counselling placements will help to deliver a flexible, community-based counselling service at safe venues throughout Bassetlaw from Monday to Saturday, including evenings.

Skills: Working Towards Leve 4 Diploma in Counselling as a minimum.

Requirements: Must be able to work with 11 – 25 year olds and commit to 3 hours per week.
Current BACP membership and a commitment to renew and maintain membership. Other membership bodies are accepted, however as Talkzone is a BACP registered organisation we ask that you agree to work within the guidance of the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Experience/training in working with people who have mental health issues.
Identifying appropriate onward referral requirements.
Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues. You are required to hold a current safeguarding certificate to work with children or young people at Talkzone.
An understanding of the issues facing disadvantaged young people in Bassetlaw.
Requirements: Will require a Criminal Record Check (DBS)

Support Available: As an organisation we provide the following to all placement counsellors: ➢ Free clinical or organisational supervision. As part of your placement role you will be expected to attend a minimum of 90 minutes of clinical supervision every 4 weeks. We can provide you with a clinical supervisor if you are able to attend during a standard working day.
Regular staff group supervision and reflection sessions with experienced and qualified counsellors. We also provide a room booking system to accommodate peer supervision with other staff/trainees/volunteers.
➢ Evening and weekend opportunities. This may involve working from various venues across Bassetlaw and is subject to room availability.
