SCHOOL AND VILLAGE ORGANISATIONS IN CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT

This year’s village carol service is on Sunday 11 December at 6.30pm in the Parish Church. Based on the traditional Nine Lessons & Carols, with the Church lit by candles, pupils of Misterton Primary School and representatives of seven other village organisations will take part in the service, led by Rev Richard Kellett. Afterwards, there are seasonal refreshments – and everyone is invited! In the Parish Church is a ‘Memory tree’ – remember someone you have a loved but lost in 2022. All those named will be blessed at the Christmas Day service at 11.00am.

l A special carol service for residents and their families is at Southmoor Lodge, Walkeringham, on Wednesday 14 December at 3.00pm.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS TO NEEDY CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

Fourteen shoeboxes, filled with goodies for children and their families this Christmas went from Misterton Parish Church to children in need. This year, two-thirds of shoeboxes from the UK are going to Ukraine or neighbouring countries that are hosting many Ukrainian refugee families. There’s still time to help: you can pack a shoebox gift online. Go to shoeboxonline.samaritans-purse.org.uk

NEW SUPPORT SERVICE FOR COUNCIL TENANTS

Bassetlaw Housing has introduced a new telephone advice service just for Council tenants. The freephone service covers health and mental health information, managing debt, work-related issues, consumer rights, and much more. Just call 0330 094 8845, which is available 24/7 for 365 days a year. The service is confidential but callers will need to demonstrate that they are bone fide Council tenants.
