Cherished Gowns UK is a charity that provides the families of babies that are stillborn, miscarried or pass away shortly after birth with items of clothing that they are able to be dressed in for their funeral. We offer five sizes of Cherished Gowns, and each gown is accompanied by a hat, pair of booties, a blanket and a cloth nappy. These items are provided completely free of charge to parents, funeral directors, and we also supply every UK hospital with this service. All of the items that we provide are lovingly made by volunteers around the UK, from donated Wedding Dresses.
Cherished Gowns UK was set up in October 2014 and since then we have made over 100,000 gowns from around 20,000 wedding dresses, and we have also had over 1/4 of a million items sent to us by our amazing knit and crochet volunteers. We stock 237 NHS hospitals including Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales.
Our service is provided completely free of charge to anyone that is in the sad position of needing it.
Cherished Gowns has always worked in conjunction with SANDS and a variety of Other Support Organisations . We also liaise closely with the NHS and Maternity departments all over the UK to ensure that our Cherished Gowns Packs are of the highest possible standard.
